Gentle Giant LiveYesterday, I reported on the upcoming approach of a live recording from Gentle Giant, their first since Playing The Fool Live from 1977, released on Chrysalis Records. Since, there has been a few unofficial live sets. The band’s next official live set is Live At The Bicentennial, and is being planned for release on November 18. It will be presented over two CDs.

The 2CD Live At The Bicentennial represents their July 3rd, 1976 set at the Calderone Theater, in Hampstead, Long Island. This show was broadcast on WLIR back when such fun things like these were fairly commonplace on FM radio.

Gentle Giant: Live At The Bicentennial is not being edited in any way, choosing, instead, to reflect the actual show in its form.

  1. There have been so many GG live releases, I lost track of which are “official” and which are not. But there is one other, at least, that is official (released on their label Alucard: King Alfred’s College, their first ever recorded concert. It is the only one that features ALL the Shulman brothers. Just to let you know that we are paying attention! ;0)

    1. Ha. Thanks, Bob. I often wonder just how relevant TAP and sites like mine really are anymore. I think we become gathering places, or, like a favored magazine, a place to relax at. Still, with information at our fingertips, a site like this really hasn’t any bearings anymore. Often, I ponder the exit, if for anything, just to listen to more music exclusively. But, I remember the feeling of a favorite magazine calling it a day (Crawdaddy, I so miss you!),and so I hang in there. After all, 12 or 13 years is a long time to do this.

  2. Matt I have a live show that came out on King Biscuit Records from I believe 1975 that is excellent!
