Being a Grateful Dead fan, I often wonder how I can sometimes miss my favorite sets of theirs being reissued. But this is one. I have a great love for Blues For Allah, and it is with this post that I feel the greatest guilt for not informing you earlier. Nevertheless, Grateful Dead needs no introduction to most of you. Even if you didn’t like any of their output, you likely know their name. With Blues for Allah representing the 8th studio release for the band, released in 1975, Grateful Dead showcased a recognizably experimental side. With eleven songs, the album generated the most interest that Grateful Dead had received chart-wise, and generated two singles.
On September 12, Grateful Dead, via Rhino Entertainment, will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Blues for Allah with a newly remastered version of the original album, and two CDs of live performance tracks. This 3CD set will be a part of several reissues that will also include a Blu-ray Audio edition with a newly remixed version for Dolby Atmos. Vinyl LP presses are also in the offerings.
This 50th Anniversary of Blues for Allah will be reissued on 3CD, DD (Includes FLAC), and 1LP sets that will offer a stunningly designed picture disc (here), Black vinyl LP, and an exclusive to band site, Red Midnight Fire colored vinyl (here).
