Just when you thought Halloween couldn’t get any stranger, Cleveland band The Venus Flytraps is releasing a visual single featuring two tracks from its debut album Night of The Venus Flytraps. The video premieres today on MusicTAP.

Both tracks were recorded straight to 1/4 inch tape in a Cleveland living room through a haze of VHS sleaze and blue smoke. No computers were involved.

Here’s the band’s two cents on “Ghost on the Phone:”

Psychedelic pop melodies mixed with tangled Country Teasers riffs, a Bo Diddley on mescaline percussion track and lyrics about possessive love affairs. The teenage-horror style visual enhances the mood with supernatural lighting and a performance from guitarist Kelly Venus and bassist Aubrey O’Blivian as the Sleepover Girls.”
