In 1972, the embryonic version of Styx released their self-titled Wooden Nickel label debut. But it wasn’t until their second album, and the reemergence of the song, “Lady”, in 1975 helped lead the band to their rise in stardom. By then, Styx has had four albums in release. Their 1975 issue of Equinox, powered by the success of “Lady”, pushed them forward. By 1977, they were top stars selling millions of copies of each release. By 1983, with the release of Kilroy Was Here (which sold less than their previous issue of Paradise Theater), the band felt the rise of a new era of music, which began to seep into the bloodstream of mainstream “Arena Rock”. Over time, Styx, under various lineups, released 17 studio sets, and two best-selling Live sets. their last album – Crash of the Crown – was released in 2021. Not bad for a band from the ’70s.
Currently in actual release, Styx has a brand new album. It is called Circling From Above. It features 13 new songs, one of which is a single (“Build And Destroy” can be heard below). The new album will be sold online and at the band’s support shows.
Circling From Above is released on CD, a Limited Edition CD Box that includes an exclusive Challenge Coin housed in a presentation case, DD, and LP on 180g-weight black vinyl pressing.

I just listened to the new Styx album. I think it’s quite good. The song “Everyone Raise a Glass sound so much like a Queen song to me. The musicianship is amazing and the vocals are over the top. A very good effort by the band.
I think many of those older bands still have the juice for the fanbase.
