Maria Muldaur endeared a generation of fans with her “Midnight At the Oasis” song. Released in 1973, this song brought the UK and the US together in adoration of the debut album by Maria Muldaur. While she never matched the popularity of that debut set, her more than 40 releases served as a testament to the strength of her Blues/Folk/Rock approach to her music. Her last album was Let’s Get Happy Together, issued in 2021. I, for one, am thankful she never went into obscurity, and is still providing us with songs that are bettered by her voice.
On July 11, Maria Muldaur remembers the artistry of Blues artist, Victoria Spivey, on her latest set, One Hour Mama: The Blues of Victoria Spivey. This album is a gift to the mentorship of the beautiful Ms Spivey as she helped move Maria Muldaur along her path to fame. Complete with 12 songs, Maria covers what she considers to be the flower arrangement of Spivey’s career. The album is being released by Nola Blues Records.
One Hour Mama: The Blues Of Victoria Spivey will be issued on CD and DD. I’m happy to see Maria back.
