In the late ’80s, Mary Chapin Carpenter released her first album on Columbia Records. It was her follow-up that broke her into Gold territory and introduced us to four strong singles that jump-started her career and gave much to the world that enjoyed her brand of country-folk. She stayed with Columbia until 2004. Her next album would yield a short run of five sets with Zoë Records. Her last three are with her own label, Lambent Light Records.

On June 6, Mary Chapin Carpenter will issue her next album, to be called Personal; History. (Earlier this year, she released a collaborative effort with Julie Fowlis and Kanne Polwart.) Personal History will contain 11 new songs, some that were being written during and after the pandemic. One of the songs, “Bitter Ender” is in release and can be enjoyed below.

Personal History will be issued on CD, DD, and vinyl LP, pressed on translucent black D2 Ultra vinyl, said to produce a superior audio experience.
