One of the fortunate things for vinyl aficionados is that the resurgence of vinyl interest has led to the repressing of many classic sets from the past. Even more satisfying is the ability to continue a vinyl collection with new bands that you might find worth saving in LP format. Of course, the more “sure sales” are those that belong to artists with a stabilized sale pattern. That’s true of some despite the fact that many of them have ceased recording decades ago. It’s thankful that that is not true of David Bowie, who has given fresh and groundbreaking new albums throughout the length of his storied career.
On May 20, Rhino Records and Parlophone will team to release a 180g-weight vinyl edition of changesonebowie, the first compilation given to Bowie celebrating his career to that point of issue back in 1976. It brought together eleven tracks from 1969 through 1976. It was – and still is – a great document of a strong Bowie period. There will also be a CD version released on the same date.
The new LP and CD reissues will featured some newly remastered tracks. It is my understanding that the reissue will provide the following variable years of remasters:
changesonebowie – David Bowie
01 Space Oddity (2015 Remastered Version)
02 John, I’m Only Dancing (Sax Version) [2012 Remastered Version]
03 Changes (2015 Remastered Version)
04 Ziggy Stardust (2012 Remastered Version)
05 Suffragette City (2012 Remastered Version)
06 The Jean Genie (2013 Remastered Version)
07 Diamond Dogs (2016 Remastered Version)
08 Rebel Rebel (2016 Remastered Version)
09 Young Americans (2016 Remastered Version)
10 Fame (2016 Remastered Version)
11 Golden Years (2016 Remastered Version)
