The sharp eyes over at Super Deluxe Edition (one of our favorite sites) is reporting an assembled Limited Edition 8LP vinyl Box featuring all six studio issues from The Jam. That alone fits into the current trend of releasing complete albums collections but Universal UK and The Jam intend to make it a better than usual Complete Studio set.
The Jam electrified the UK primarily but picked up a lot of fans throughout the world. And like most great bands, they gave up the limelight with concentration elsewhere (at least for Paul Weller with The Style Council, and his solo efforts).
The Jam released two powerhouse albums in 1977 (In The City, This Is The Modern World), a grand third album in 1978 (All Mod Cons), an equally brilliant Setting Sons in 1979, Sound Affects in 1980 with the wonderful “That’s Entertainment”, and sadly closing out their career with the ascendant The Gift album that showcased immense talent and forward movement (that would never happen) especially with the success of “Town Called Malice””.
On November 25, The Studio Recordings will deliver not only the band’s six studio albums, but will include 2 LPs with many of the band’s continuous stream of non-album singles, and their collected B-sides. In addition, a 44-page hard-bound book will complete the set with all manner of Jam goodness. Finally, as with all great vinyl sets, The Studio Recordings will include download rights to the MP3 files of the content acquired on vinyl.
