As far as music is concerned, we live in a day and time, where there is much “been there, done that” assignation of new bands. But while that is largely – and fairly – true, this should not negate the possibility that any band of today could be pretty damn good. Some, like The War on Drugs, could have succeeded quite nicely during the ’70s and other periods. Today, I’m bringing your attention to a band that goes by the name of The Blasting Company. Now, the name alone might be confusing and seem that it likely belongs to a heavy sound band…but for The Blasting Company, this is not true.
The Blasting Company has been around since 2008, and is referenced as a nouveau Folk/Jazz band. This band was previously known as The Petrojvic Blasting Company; it’s possible you know them by that name. Best known for their music composed for The Cartoon Network mini-series, Over The Garden Wall, this band can put together an intriguing collection of songs inspired by things that do not reach normal ears but rather those ears of the searcher for bohemian-styled avant-garde sounds.
The Blasting Company have five albums in release, two when they were Petrojvic Blasting Company, and thereafter. Two were released in 2025 (The Crooked Moon: Hungry Woods, The Crooked Moon: Sword and Seal), as well as three EP issues. Currently, most of their remaining 2026 tour dates are sold out.
On December 11, Over The Garden Wall (2016) will be revisited by Mutant Recordings with a series of reissues that will include CD, DD, Cassette, and a Limited Edition Orange Swirl 140g-weight vinyl LP press. The original album itself contains 32 tracks as will these reissues. A booklet with lyrics to every song is packed in.
