In 1976, Ramones arrived with a stunning self-titled collection of 14 songs that started with “Blitzkrieg Bop”, bumping into “Beat On The Brat”, “Judy Is A Punk”, “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend”, and closing with “Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World”. Somehow, that last song title seemed rather prophetic.
The band had signed with Sire Records, and the rest is, as they say, history.
Rhino plans a 6CD set for Ramones entitled The Sire Years 1976-1981. As of right now, there are no complete details. What I can sense is that this is a set with each of the first six albums ( Ramones, Ramones Leave Home, Rocket To Russia, Road To Ruin, End Of the Century, Pleasant Dreams). I’m also betting there is some remastering going on.
I’ll be sure to get back with you as more details become available.
This set is scheduled by Rhino for October 29.
