There will be few of you that remember and treasure the music as produced by The 5th Dimension. This five-member vocal group blended the psychedelia of the time along with American radio Pop with great success. With songs like “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In”, “Stoned Soul Picnic”, “Up Up And Away”, collective social interest on “Save The Country”, and later, “Wedding Bell Blues”, The 5th Dimension let it be known that Popular music could be hip and with the times.
On May 22, Esoteric Recordings (Cherry Red UK) will deliver a 6CD Box that will explore the band’s 4 Soul City releases and their 6 Bell label issues. As a bonus to these albums inclusions, the box will tuck in 25 bonus tracks. All of the music from these albums for this box have been remastered. The booklet will contain notes by Joe Marchese (our friend from the great Second Disc site). The bonus tracks will represent live performance tracks, outtakes, and non-LP songs.
The Box set will be titled Let The Sunshine In: The Soul City & Bell Albums 1967-1974. It will be issued over 6CDs and DD availability.
