Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, or OMD as they’re popularly known, arrived back in the late ’70s and released their self-titled album in 1980. That album, an experimental synth classic gained public favor by the release of that album’s single, “Electricity”. Each subsequent album released gained further foothold with songs like “Enola Gay”. “Joan of Arc”, “Maid of Orleans”. “Souvenir”, and “So In Love” The latter track appeared on their 1985 effort, Crush, which celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year. Overall, the band has 14 studio sets in release, eight from the classical peak period.
On October 10, Virgin Records (UME) will reissue the1985 OMD classic Crush in an expanded and newly remastered form that will add in a collection of demos, B-sides, remixes, and rough cuts. The set will offer two CDs to make the reissue a rewarding experience. With sixteen extras, the offering includes 4 never before heard songs and three never before heard demos and rough tracks. A full-color booklet with new notes and more photos help round out the set.
The 40th Anniversary reissue of Crush will be made available on 2CD, DD, and 2LP black vinyl with a selected 11 extra tracks for the second LP. An exclusive Clear Vinyl 2LP package is available on the band’s site.
