The popular New Zealand band, Split Enz, formed in 1972. Co-founded by Tim Finn, the band worked until 1977 when vacancies gave room for the addition of Finn’s younger brother, Neil Finn. By 1980, with the ascendancy of New Wave, the band released their fifth studio set, True Colours. With received accolades for their song, “I Got You”, Split Enz received international notice and kept New Zealand and Australian fans happy for four more releases. Their last was See Ya ‘Round. It issued in 1984. Split Enz soon called it a day, and Neil Finn formed Crowded House. And that’s even more history.
On November 14, Chrysalis Records will begin a look at Split Enz with a revisit with the band’s first album, Mental Notes. Mental Notes was issued in New Zealand, and Australia performing well for both markets. The album was offered to European and North American markets, but eventually became reworked and released as Second Thoughts To celebrate the band’s debut in its 50th Anniversary, a revitalized set is being present called Enzcyclopedia Volumes One & Two. The music of Mental Notes, and Second Thoughts feature new audio updates for this package. The music is newly remastered for this Anniversary reissue package.
The fifth CD will offer 4 live tracks, and three studio cuts. Both the 5CD and the 3LP sets will pack in a 40-page booklet.
Enzcyclopedia Volumes 1 & 2 will be released on 5CD, DD, 3LP (with 2025 Remastered Mental Notes, 2025 Remixed Second Thoughts, and The Beginning Of The Enz), and 2BD (featuring Hi-Res Stereo [96kHz/24-bit], and for Second Thoughts, Dolby Atmos Stereo, 5.1 Surround, and a Stereo 2025 Mix by Eddie Rayner. Included in the BD collection will also be three music videos.
