After his departure from the UK-based Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson forged a successful solo career. With more than 25 studio sets in release, some with his ex-wife, Linda (Pettifer) Thompson, Richard Thompson gave us plenty of accessible folk-rock songs not unlike his short tenure with Fairport Convention (with whom he released 5 albums). Every release by him is a joy in that the creativity of his music is still in full vibrance.
On October 16, Richard Thompson (via New West Records)will release his next set of tracks. The new album is being called Hippies, Thugs and Heroes, which will contain 12 new songs. The first song in release is “Cocaine Walking, Booze Talking”. This new song can be heard below.
Hippies, Thugs and Heroes will be issued on CD, DD, and two vinyl editions that incloude the standard black vinyl LP press, and an exclusive to the website release pressed on 150g-weight vinyl colored with yellow and black splatter. On the New West site, there is also a signed CD edition being made available.
