For decades, Journey has survived and have done well especially in the wake of line-up changes that tampered with the best known versions of the band. Their last album – Eclipse – was released in 2011. The band has endured much internal drama, the likes that would have capsized many bands. But Schon’s resolve to keep things afloat has led to the resilent nature of Journey.
Journey has recently announced an upcoming new album. It is being called Freedom. It will contain fifteen new songs, one of them a 7-minute epic. Freedom, while announced as a finished effort, has not been given a secured calendar date. Rather, it is being noted as becoming available in “early summer”. That’s not really many months from today.
A song from Freedom is currently in release – “The Way We Used To Be”. You can hear it below. While there isn’t an official album cover, the released track-list sports the likely cover as it’s been said that Jim Welch has been employed to design it. Jim Welch has designed the recognizable Infinity, Departure, Evolution, and Escape covers for Journey‘s best known periods.
