Bob Dylan has left many excellent albums in his wake as he has moved through time. To accompany those classics, Dylan has provided a series of Bootleg sets that offer live takes, alternate takes, demos, and more. To date, he has released 15 volumes of The Bootleg Series.
On September 17, Columbia Records plan the release of Volume 16 of The Bootleg Series to be called Springtime In New York. This 5CD package will provide a collection of outtakes, rehearsals, alternate versions, live performances, and an international single B-side. All tracks on this set are from the years of 1980 – 1985 when Dylan released Shot Of Love, Empire Burlesque, and Infidels. With 57 tracks in all, this is a beautiful add to the slot after those albums. Some of these are rehearsals from other periods. “Señor (Tales of Yankee Power)” hails from the Street Legal (1978) album. Some of covers.
Springtime In New York: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 16 1980-1985 will be released on 5CD, 2CD, DD, and vinyl 4LP and 2LP. The 2CD set offers 25 selected tracks [notated by * at end of song title]. The 4LP [color vinyl] is an exclusive from Jack White’s Third Man Records as part of its Vault series. The 5CD Box will include a book. “Too Late” from the set can be heard below.
