Formed in 1967, The Stooges set a stage for music to come after them. And this is no joke. Iggy Pop was as wild a front man as Punk could EVER deliver on its own. And it’s likely that many front-performing members of a band took their onstage cues from Iggy. The Stooges released five albums, but it were their first three that held many in thrall during the band’s peak years, especially 1973’s Raw Power. (I remember seeing large attention-grabbing standups that held copies of Raw Power away from the shelves and in your face.) The tides were starting to change and this was the band at the front of it.
On August 28, Rhino Entertainment will reissue a combined version of The Stooges (1969), and Funhouse (1970) in defining Dolby Atmos for those that need this for their collection. I know I do! This Blu-ray Audio disc will contain the new Dolby Atmos mix (TrueHD 7.1), and a new Stereo HD mix (DTS HD-MA). A booklet is included to complete the deal.
Believe it, there is also a Reel to Reel version of Funhouse available from Rhino for those purists that have their machines at the ready.
