In the later years of the ’70s -1976 particularly – you couldn’t turn on a radio and there wouldn’t be a long wait before a Boz Scaggs tune would begin laying. His musical career became better known as a member of the Steve Miller Band, where he lasted for two studio sets. After his tenure ended, he launched his solo career releasing five albums on Polydor (1), Atlantic Records (1) and Columbia Records. With the sixth set, Slow Dancer (1974), attention became much more broader. Over time, the album sold in excess of 500,000 copies provided it with a Gold Album award. But his next, Silk Degrees. made him an absolute household name. That album generated four best-selling singles and even provided a best-selling hit for Rita Coolidge as she covered “We’re All Alone”. Silk Degrees sold well over 15 million copies worldwide. To date, Boz Scaggs has recorded and released 19 solo sets, his last one in 2018.

On October 17, Boz Scaggs returns with a supper club jazz set to be titled Detour. The new album is recorded with Seth Asarnow, Jason Lewis, and Jim Cox. The upcoming album has two singles out and is definitely on my list of acquisitions. Detour will feature 11 new songs 10 of them standards as covers, and one original track in “I’ll Be Long Gone” – heard below. “Angel Eyes” can also be heard below.

Detour will be issued on CD, DD, and a Limited Edition Opaque Baby Blue vinyl LP (only 300 copies will be made available via Boz Scaggs website), another Limited Edition Tangerine color vinyl LP as a Barnes  Nobel exclusive), and standard black color vinyl LP.
