Gene Loves Jezebel began with a bang into the goth world with Promise. Buoyed by the strength of “Screaming for Emmalene”, and “Influenza” as singles. The band rose to greater prominence with their second and third albums – Immigrant (1985), and Discover (1986). Their live shows were spectacles  powered by the charisma of the two brothers, Jay and Michael Aston. One document of that period was a live album called Glad to Be Alive. Released in 1986 at the height of the band’s power, the eight tracks were representative of what they had to offer.

On August 22, Iconoclassic Records, a label that loves the music it reissues (with a powerhouse of an owner), will reissue the band’s Glad To Be Alive in an expanded set that will cover all 17 songs from the March 17, 1986 live performance in Nottingham at the Rock City venue. Originally released as a bonus inclusion with Discover in that album’s LP and Cassette appearances, this newly remastered full concert set will represent the first time on CD. It is also the first time for the nine included previously unreleased performance tracks. New liner notes have been written by the band for this reissue.

This remastered and expanded reissue of Glad To Be Alive will release on CD and DD.
