From their first studio set, Simple Minds captured the loyalty of a growing listening audience. By 1981, the band were in Gold and Platinum territory with their newer releases. When Simple Minds released the non-album soundtrack single, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”, their stock rose astronomically. In 1985, at the release of their hit, Once Upon A Time, Simple Minds enjoyed four singles from the multi-million selling album. Plenty came afterward, but Once Upon A Time was the sales pinnacle for the band.
On October 17, Simple Minds, along with A&M Records, will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of this classic set with a 5CD Boxed set. That set will contain the original album, 2 CDs with B-sides and Extended mixes as well as some rarities. The final 2CDs will house the August 13, 1986 show at Le Zénith in Paris, extracted from Live In the City Of Lights set. This set was celebrated earlier with a Box that included a DVD. This is not included here.
