As Black Sabbath reissues move along, we’re now at the seventh release from the band with Technical Ecstasy. Officially released back in 1976, this album was received well by fans, giving it a high chart point in both the UK and the US. Ozzy Osbourne would only remain with Black Sabbath for one more studio album (Never Say Die! – 1978) before the band moved on with Ronnie James Dio.
On October 1, Black Sabbath will reissue Technical Ecstasy in a 4CD Deluxe Box set. Within will be the remastered original album (for 2021), and a new Steven Wilson remix of the entire album. Also included are eight previously unreleased alternate tracks and outtakes from the Miami sessions. The extra CDs add in a collection of ten previously unreleased live performance tracks from multiple venues from the 1976-1977 World Tour.
To bolster the 4CD Technical Ecstasy box, a 60-page hard-bound book is packed in. An extra tour program book replica is included along with a poster of the album cover.
The 2021 Deluxe box for Technical Ecstasy will be released on 4CD, DD, and a special edition 5LP (180g-weight black vinyl) package. The 5LP vinyl set will include a truncated 40-page book, and the same Hipgnosis poster of the album cover. All 34 tracks on the 4CD package are also represented in the 5LP package.
