One of the MOST underrated guitarists from the early years of Rock is easily Kim Simmonds. For reference, it’s Kim Simmonds that has powered Savoy Brown throughout its storied existence. From the band’s first album, Shake Down (1967) until their last one, City Night (2019), Savoy Brown has created more than 30 studio issues, not including live sets. In addition, Savoy Brown once contained the bulk of performers that would soon move on to become Foghat. Needless to shout out that Simmonds was as influential a blues/rock guitarist as can be heralded.
On August 28, Quarto Valley Records will release the next Savoy Brown album in Ain’t Done Yet. This new studio collection of songs will feature ten brand new – and energetic – songs by Kim Simmonds. This version of Savoy Brown has Pat DeSalvo at bass, and Garnett Grimm on drums.
