“The Song’s the thing/Wherein I’ll catch the ear of the king.”

Since parting ways with Eisley, Stacy King has created textured pop music that lives up to the promise of Sucrè. The name aptly captures her voice, but also indicates the sweet spot that she and Darren King (MuteMath) have inhabited with their music over the last year. Eschewing the conventional wisdom of releasing singles as mere prelude to an album, the partnership comprising Sucrè have pledged a new song (or two) on the first Friday of each month in 2019. “Roof” is the first such single, featuring driving violin riffs and gorgeous violin licks over precise percussive tones and dulcet vocal drones. The digital b-side, “Walk Through,” falls somewhere between an unreleased 1967 Beatles experiment and the best of St. Vincent’s recent work. You can check out the combined video for these tracks below, and return to Sucrè the first Friday of every month for more soul-crafted electronic pop.
