2CD Deluxe Edition of Duran Duran’s Rio To Be Re-Released In June (UK Report)

With the year nearing the half-point mark, I was beginning to wonder if there were going to be many high-profile reissues. However, there’s some interesting news in that department, especially for Duran Duran fans.

On June 22 (UK), June 23 (US), there will be an expanded Deluxe Edition of Rio (1982) being re-released via Parlophone in the UK. That album featured a few of the band’s great hits with “Hungry Like The Wolf”, “Rio”, and “Save a Prayer”.  Although a remastered and expanded Rio Limited Edition Collector’s set was released in 2009, it has been out of print for some time. (Nevertheless, it can still be had for a high cost.)

This new 2CD Deluxe Edition will contain pretty much the same lineup of that 2009 Collector’s Edition with the UK and US original track-lists (see track-list below).  For inclusions, it will be missing the Carnival remix of “Hold Back The Rain”, and “Simon’s Christmas Message 1982” that are found on the 2009 Edition of Rio. This edition of Rio will be released in a digipak housing. There will also be a single CD re-release of Rio.

Not an earth-shattering announcement, especially for rabid Duran Duran fans, who will have already scored the 2009 remastered Collector’s Edition. But if you missed out, here’s your new chance.
