Eric Carmen has quite the background when you count in his his beloved Raspberries years along with his excellent continuation as a solo artist on the Arista label. That label provided his first self titled album (there were two), that generated “All By Myself”, and “Never Gonna Fall In Love Again”. Even “That’s Rock And Roll”, “On Broadway”, and “Sunrise” enjoyed moderate radio play. It was followed by the underrated Boats Against The Current album from 1977. That album gave us the title track as well as “She Did It”, and to a lesser extent, “Marathon Man”.
The second self-titled album was released in 1984 via Geffen Records. That album, although it didn’t enjoy the same visibility that the earlier Arista issues had, sold respectably. It gave us the hit song, “I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips”, followed by “Spotlight”.
On April 1, Varese Sarabande will reissue this 2nd self-titled Eric Carmen from 1984. The CD will contain the different single mix by Don Gehman of “I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips” as a bonus track.
