Dream Theater, formed in 1985, is a progressive metal band that enjoys a fantastically appreciative fan-base. At one time, the powerhouse team featured Mike Portnoy, who left the band back in 2010. Nevertheless, Dream Theater have stuck together, even gaining two Grammy nominations, one in 2012 for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance with their “On the Backs Of Angels”, and another in 2013 for Best Metal Performance for “The Enemy Inside”.
All told, Dream Theater now have twelve studio works, all released over time with various labels that include their original label, Mechanic Records, Atco Records, East West, Atlantic Records, a stretch with Elektra Records, and their current label, Roadrunner Records, a label that is perhaps a better fit then the rest. Their most recent album, the self-titled set, was released in late 2013, and contains the Grammy nominated “The Enemy Inside” mentioned earlier.
To celebrate the impressive catalog of Dream Theater, Roadrunner Records will package the band’s albums sans the debut with Mechanic Records into a massive 11CD Box, The Studio Albums (1992-2011). The actual albums included will be: Images and Words (1992), Awake (1994), Falling Into Infinity (1997), Metropolis PT. 2: Scenes From a Memory (1999), Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (2002) – 2CDs, Train of Thought (2003), Octavarium (2005), Systematic Chaos (2007), Black Clouds & Silver Linings (2009), A Dramatic Turn of Events (2011). This new box is on the calendar for July 8.
As of now, only this bit of release info is apparent
This makes me wish I didn’t have any of their cds.
