To the world, The Clash represented a strong belief in the world of fairness and equality while producing great music to dispense those set of beliefs. At the core of The Clash was Joe Strummer. And while the talent in the band was absolutely shared amongst its four members, Joe Strummer was the front and most vocal of the band. In previous years, interested parties released two boxed sets of Joe Strummer music (001 – Joe Strummer, 002 – The Mescalero Years) and this one will join those.
On November 20, Dark Horse Records will release 003 – The 101’ers Years (1974-1976) that will feature 48 tracks of live, studio, demos, and cassette recordings all related and created during the pre-Clash years of Strummer‘s musical legacy. Within the box will be a hardbound book with 48 pages of notes, a foreword by Glenn Matlock, writings by Strummer, and notes from fellow 101’ers, Richard Dudanski, and photos. One of the tracks, a spirited “Keys To Your Heart”, can be enjoyed below in a new 2026 mix that gives the original the ‘oomph’ it was seeking. The 2LP package will not feature the live sets and will offer some of e basement tapes.
003 – The 101’ers Years will be offered in a 3CD box, a 2LP packages, and DD.
