Laurie Anderson is one of a few of Rock’s more extraordinary creative elements. In 1982, Laurie Anderson released the unusual but accepted “O Superman” song from her Big Science album. Needless to say, the video and song delivered big for the avant-garde artist. Years later, she would deliver an album of talk pieces backed by music with The Ugly One With The Jewels On (1995). She was married to Lou Reed for a period. Her last album was Amelia, which was released in 2024.
On May 8, Nonesuch Records will issue the next Laurie Anderson set, albeit a live set, called Let X=X (Live). This is an album recorded from shows with Sexmob, a Jazz quintet with whom she toured with in 2023, and is a tour from which these live performance tracks are pulled. These tracks represent many of previously recorded including a Lou Reed/Metallica track, “Junior Dad”. Even “O Superman” is reimagined here. A track from this album is in release and found below. It is a magnificent track, especially if you’re a Laurie Anderson fan. It’s a magnificent reimagining of the 1982 track from Big Science. Might even be better!
Got the time?

Let X=X (Live) will be made available on 2CD, DD, and 3LP on black vinyl. Both are had with MP3 DD bundles if ordered via Nonesuch Records.
