WAR began in Southern California after being discovered in 1969 and became a band that featured the vocal talents of Eric Burdon. After their breakout hit, “Spill The Wine”. after an onstage health issue with Eric Burdon, circumstances led WAR to continue on as the musicians they were. Soon enough, they were delivering hits like “All Day Music”, “Slippin’ Into Darkness”, “The Cisco Kid”, “The World Is A Ghetto”, “Low Rider”, and “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”. Needless to say, WAR were consistently delivering solid hits and albums to a public that wanted them.

On February 7 of 2025, Rhino will release a live set, Live In Japan1974. This set was recorded during the high point of the band’s career, with the 1975 success, Why Can’t We Be Friends? yet to be released in 1975. The live set will feature 13 live performance tracks that include wonderfully extended performances of songs like “The Cisco Kid”, “The World Is A Ghetto”, and “All Day Music”. WAR could not be stopped at this point. The show, although not verified at this point, was likely at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan on December 12, 1974.

Live In Japan 1974 will be issued on 2CD, 2LP (black vinyl), and DD.
