Talking Heads entered the important and emerging stream of late ’70s, post-punk consciousness with their magnificent debut set, Talking Heads: 77. Marking the date of emergence with the new Sire Records set, the band created a gem that birthed three singles, giving the world the familiar “Psycho Killer” as well as “Uh Oh, Love Comes To Town”, and eventually, “Pulled Up”. But the entire album became a staple of FM radio with every track a draw toward the album and the new band.
On November 8, Rhino will reissue the Talking Heads: 77 classic with a 3CD/BD box that will provide the original album in a new remaster. Additionally, this set will also provide Atmos mixes along with a DTS-HD MA 5.1 Surround, and an LPCM 5.1 Surround mix, and a hi-resolution stereo mix. The additional CDs will present a collection of session outtakes, rarities, and alternate takes; a previously unreleased live set from an October 10, 1977 set at CBGB’s. The set will be bolstered by the inclusion of an 80-page hardbound book filled with new notes by the original members as well as unseen photos from the period.
Talking Heads: 77 will reissue in a 3CD/BD box, a Deluxe Edition 4LP packages that includes 4 7″ vinyl singles (“(Love Goes To) Building On Fire” b/w “New Feeling”, “Uh Oh, Love Comes To Town” b/w “I Wish You Wouldn’t Say That”, “Psycho Killer” b/w “Psycho Killer” (acoustic), and “Pulled Up” b/w “Don’t Worry About The Government”), DD, and a 2LP black vinyl package.
