It had just come to my attention (via my pals at The Second Disc) that an SACD of one of my all-time favorites – Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen – is now available. Reissued as a 50th Anniversary Japan Edition of the Rock classic set, the 3-disc set will offer the original album, newly mixed in DSD from original 24-track analog tapes on a hybrid SACD. The remaining two CDs will be home to a full live concert from Springsteen‘s December 12, 1975 show at the Post Dome located at CW Post College in Greenvale, NY. (This show has been previously released.)

This 50th Anniversary Japan Edition of Born To Run was released on December 24 of 2025. In the LP-styled cardboard sleeve, you will also find a poster of the album cover, and a 40-page booklet, which will offer photos, notes, and insightful commentary. All in all, if you own an SACD player (or not as its a hybrid SACD and WILL play in any CD player…just not at DSD levels), you will be treated to a special experience.

I missed this momentous reissue but the guys at The Second Disc had my back (and yours, if you’re a Bruce Springsteen fan)! You can access their website here. They are recommended highly, especially as I prepare to sunset MusicTAP soon. You can order your copy  of Born To Run 50th Anniversary Japan Edition here.

    1. I know, I know. But at 70 (and I’ve been doing this since 2001), I have a lot on my plate. And it gets hard to get to it and do the research and stuff. Who’d have thought that when retired, you’d be BUSIER. But it’s for people like you that I did this for. Thanks so much for all your years of support!

      1. Well I certain know what you’re talking about for sure. I’m busier in retirement than I ever was doing the regular job of managing a 9-1-1 center. Thank you for all the many years of introducing me to music I would have otherwise never heard of…Pun intended. Great site, it will be missed.

  1. Sad to hear you are wrapping up but fully understand why. I’ve just turned 70 myself and time is really flying by. Time to relax and enjoy plenty of good times and holidays.
Thank you for your well presented website and all the music news over the years. (Music Tap and SDE are my go-to sites for all things music).
    Enjoy your retirement.
PS – The Springsteen set is fantastic. Presented in 7″ Cardboard sleeve as only the Japanese know how

    1. Thank you very much. Yeah, it’s been a great run and I enjoyed much of it. I have so many things planned that to maintain this site on a daily basis and do whatever else, is a bit much. Who knew that retirement could grow into a full-time job with a lot of OT. Nevertheless, I will miss all of you!! And who knows, I might get back to it one day.

    2. BTW, did you pay the full shipping costs? That’s the only thing keeping this disc in the cart. The shipping cost was more than the disc itself.

      1. CD Japan shipping is not cheap, is it?
I’m in Perth, Western Australia. Shipping was AUD $35 (about USD $24) which appears to be cheaper than to the US.
It was sent via DHL from Japan on 22 December (before release date) and I received it on Christmas Eve.
Perhaps add something else to your cart to ease the pain. (May I suggest, Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 50th 2CD+Blu-ray – also in beautiful 7″ packaging!!)
ps. I rarely order anything from the States anymore. Your shipping rates to Australia make CD Japan look cheap haha!
