Jazz has been a potent force in music for far longer than Rock and Roll…and might have even helped to develop the swagger and coolness that we have found and loved in Rock. There are premier musicians within that genre, people like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, and Art Pepper.

Art Pepper was an alto saxophone player. He released his first album in 1956 – Surf Ride. Art Pepper released over 50 studio and live albums during the course of his career. And that’s not even counting his roles as side man to many bands and jazz musicians.

On February 20, the folks at Omnivore Recordings will release an Art Pepper live set to be titled Everything Happens To Me:  1959 Live at The Cellar. This will be a 4CD set that will offer all the music available from a multiple set of shows at Vancouver’s happening club, The Cellar. Some of the music is incomplete as the tape simply ran out during a set. But overall, most of the performance tracks are complete. They have been newly remastered for this release. The booklet included will provide notes as well as interviews with Laurie Pepper (Art’s widow, and the producer of this set), and Dave Quarin.

Everything Happens To Me: 1959 Live At The Cellar will be offered on 4CD and DD.
