Sometimes a movie comes out that proves to be a surprise hit as well as tugging at heart strings well. The recent music-based movie starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as a husband/wife tribute act using the songs of Neil Diamond – and joyfully named Song Sung Blue – said much about the perseverance of the music of Neil Diamond. And so to market they go.
On March 20, Mutant Records will release the official movie tie-in album that will feature 11 full Neil Diamond songs as sung by Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, sometimes as solo tracks. Two of the tracks are sung by Michael Imperioli (“Oh Boy!”, “Everyday”) as he impersonates Buddy Holly, and one by The Ton3s (“Get On Up”). Kate Hudson sings solo as a Patsy Cline impersonator. So, if you liked the songs from the movie, here’s your opportunity to have them for yourself.
Song Sung Blue will be made available on CD, DD, 2LP (Blue Glitter Vinyl), and CS (Cassette).
