After Black Sabbath had traveled the well worn paths of the ’70s with Ozzy Osbourne, and replaced Ozzy with Ronnie James Dio (Elf/Rainbow)for two albums, Dio with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) for one, and Gillan with Glen Hughes (Trapeze/Deep Purple)for one album, they brought in Tony Martin for their 13th set – The Eternal Idol. Of course, by now, only Tony Iommi from the original troupe remained. Some of the classic performers from the Black Sabbath past would rejoin later. but for The Eternal Idol, a new path had to be forged.
On September 25, Rhino Entertainment will reissue The Eternal Idol for fans after a RSD reissue of the album on Limited Edition Translucent Red 140g-weight LP emerged on April 12. The new reissue of The Eternal Idol will feature new remastering from the original analogue tapes. Two bonus tracks are to be found on this reissue – “Some Kind Of Woman” and “Black Moon” for a total of 11 tracks for this set.
This new reissue of The Eternal Idol will offer a new booklet for the CD, ad a lyrics sheet for the LP. The Eternal Idol will be offered on CD, DD, and LP pressed on black vinyl.
