Christopher Cross arrived in 1979 with a multi-million selling debut album that spawned four singles in a year’s time. He bolstered that success with a non-album single, “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” from the 1981 film, Arthur. Although Christopher Cross‘ second album sold Gold, nothing came close to the success of the debut that carried his name. This album hung steady and solid on the Hot 100 charts for a full five months. All this within the boundaries of the strengthening kraken known as New Wave, which was spreading its tentacles around the globe.
On June 20, Omnivore Recordings will provide a newly remastered and expanded version of the original Christopher Cross debut. The album will provide the original set as well as 11 bonus tracks that includes ten demos, seven of which are previously unreleased. Of the unreleased demos, two are demos of best known songs, “Sailing”, and “Ride Like The Wind”. The included booklet will feature an interview with Michael Omartian (original album’s producer), and new notes from others.
Christopher Cross will issue on CD, DD, and 2LP black vinyl editions.
