After the success of the Dire Straits debut set (and its three follow-ups), the band hit absolute paydirt with their fifth set, warmly known as Brothers In Arms. That album set Dire Straits at the top of the pyramid of popular bands to the tune of a staggering 40+ million selling album that spawned five solid hits that includes “Walk of Life”, “Money for Nothing”, and “So Far Away”. For an entire year, the album held ranking and elevated the band further. Sadly, Dire Straits would only release one more album before calling it a day. And 2025 is the 40th Anniversary for Brothers In Arms.
On May 16, Dire Straits will celebrate that anniversary with special sets that will bring together the classic album along with a full show from their 1985 San Antonio, TX appearance at the Municipal Auditorium on August 16. This show has been heavily bootlegged but is now available for this set. a 28-page booklet is included with photos, credits, new liner notes, and interview segments with Knopfler, Illsley, and Fletcher.
This 40th Anniversary Edition of Brothers In Arms will be issued on 3CD, DD, 5LP, and single LP sets. All packages will have different covers (3CD with one, 5LP with another, and the 1LP with original cover). A BD-Audio will be sold via Super Deluxe Edition.
