In 1969, Norman Greenbaum created a memorable single with a single track from his 1969 debut Reprise album. That song, “Spirit In The Sky” would sell over 2 million copies in less than a year. But even so, the song itself would become a psychedelic-tinged song classic that has endured the test of time. Fast forward to the now, “Spirit In the Sky” still holds listeners in thrall. This gives the song an amazing detail not often found for one-hit wonders. The song itself featured on the 1969 album of the same name, an album that contains 10 songs.

On June 13, Craft Recordings will bring back a long out of print vinyl edition of the debut album – Spirit In The Sky. The new album is cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio with lacquers cut from the original AAA tapes. The tip-on jacket is an exact replica of the original late 1969 album release that carried the single to popularity from 1969 into 1970.

But even better, the “Spirit In The Sky” song/single has been remixed for Dolby Atmos currently available as of April 15. You can already stream the track on your available streaming services or can purchase the DD edition for yourself.

The vinyl editions of Sprit In The Sky will be made available in standard black vinyl press, and a Limited Edition Blue Tidal Wave color press. Pre-order here.

Norman Greenbaum has this to say about the iconic single that has lasted his lifetime,: “I’m humbled and deeply grateful that “Spirit in the Sky” continues to connect with people. It means so much that people have taken the song to heart, and I’m excited to see its journey continue.”
