For many Jazz fans that enjoyed the style changes supplied to the genre by emerging late ’50s/early ’60s artists, there’s Sun Ra. His contributions to Jazz, usually with The Arkestra, are legend and to be revered. Over 30 years and with over 40 albums, Sun Ra has delivered plenty of catalogue titles for generations to enjoy. One of those is the album with a 60th Anniversary – The Futuristic Sounds Of Sun Ra. This album was originally released in 1962 and represents the 4th album of a long career by Sun Ra.
On September 16, Craft Recordings will reissue the classic early period Sun Ra album – The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra with a brand new remaster to celebrate the music genius of the artist with his new band. The reissue will restore the original cover art and will offer new notes, photos, and essays within the supplied booklet.
The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra will be reissued on CD, DD (and hi-res DD that include MP3, ALAC, WAV, and FLAC), and heavyweight 180g black vinyl. The album will also reissue within several bundles, one that that includes a hard bound cover art book, and one with a commemorative Savoy Records tee.
