Like many classic bands before them, U2 is one that needs no introduction nor even a light discourse about their history. People know enough. They want to know if the band is releasing new albums or reissuing a beloved classic. U2 has done quite a bit of reissuance of their classics. Time for another.
On December 3, U2 will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Achtung Baby with a 50-track digital box of B-sides, remixes, and additional bonus tracks, some that have never been released previously. It will come with much to be desired albeit in a digital format (that might become CD at some point).
On Friday (19th), U2 will also celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Achtung Baby with two vinyl 2LP editions. There will be standard black vinyl, and red and blue 2LP. Unfortunately, the Transparent Red and Transparent Blue 2LP set is already sold out, but the 2LP Black edition is still available. The LPs will be pressed on 180g-weight vinyl. The LPs will be housed in wide-spine sleeves and cased in a slipcase that has a numbered sticker attached. Each set will feature one of four mystery covers. The case will contain a fold-out poster. An 8-page booklet with lyrics, credits, and photos is inside the case.
Either way, the U2 fan has something to appreciate as Christmas creeps ever closer.
