Since their 1972 album, Slayed?, the band known as Slade intrigued me to no end when I was a teen. I was one band that I went out of my way to get music from. As an introduction, Slade originated in the UK, forming in 1966. But it was their progression into the emerging Glam-Rock period that did the trick for the quartet. Over a period of six peak years, Slade delivered a stunning run of more than 15 Top 20 singles, some of them #1 achievers. Yes, their peak was short-lived, but Slade left behind an enduring legacy felt to this day. Even big bands covered their single hits.
On September 25, BMG will release two versions of a new collected Slade set that will be called Cum On Feel The Hitz – The Best of Slade. A 2CD edition will collect 44 tracks, while a truncated single CD will contain only 12 songs. A single vinyl LP will mirror this track list. The 2LP package will only contain 24 songs. You get to choose which version is going to work best for you.
