ZZ Top has long been a solid fixture in the early periods of Rock. They hit a peak stride in the ’80s, and settled in for the years following. Regardless of where they are right now musically, ZZ Top, with the same three rascals throughout their storied career. And now, with the band moving into their 50th Anniversary from their 1969 formation, it’s time for them to give them some well-deserved attention again.
On May 31, Rhino Records will reissue fan favorites, Tejas (1976), and El Loco (1981), both on vinyl LP…for the collectors.
The other news is that there will be a set released called Goin’ 50, a probable collection to help celebrate their anniversary. Goin’ 50 will be issued on June 14. The set configurations include a 3CD, a 5LP, and a single CD release as well as DD configurations. Nothing is known about these yet but I will be back to update when we do.
ZZ Top will embark on a massive World tour to help celebrate those 50 years.
