Lee Michaels enjoyed a massive hit back in 1971 with “Do You Know What I Mean?”. It issued from his 5th (1971) album, later than most people get to exhibit some level of success. However, the music of Lee Michaels was quite good, and so A&M Records released seven titles including a 2LP Live set.
On November 20, Manifesto Records will release a 7CD Box called The Complete A&M Album Collection (Michaels recorded for Columbia and ABC as well). The seven titles will be newly remastered for this box. The packaging will replicate each album’s original artwork when first released. The seven titles include Carnival Of Life (1968), Recital (1968), Lee Michaels (1969), Barrel (1970), 5th (1971), Space And First Takes (1972), and Lee Michaels Live (1973).
The Box will include a massive 40-page booklet with photos, liner notes, takes from each album, credits, and memorabilia including poster shots, etc.
Lee Michaels was a favorite of mine. I won’t say that I collected all of his albums, but I did have a few. This, to me, would be a worthy add to my library, especially with its new remastering and historical review found in the booklet.
