Rhino Records will reissue several 180g-weight LP titles of familiar Mike Oldfield titles that will include Voyager, Tubular Bells II, Tubular Bells III, and The Songs Of Distant Earth. All of these LP sets are scheduled for October 21. In addition to the LP reissues, Rhino will release a packaged 8CD collection for Mike Oldfield (on the same date) called The Studio Albums: 1992-2003.
Atlantic Records will also have a The Studio Albums series Box for Foreigner on October 14. The set is being called The Complete Atlantic Studio Albums: 1977-1991.
A favored label of mine, Jagjaguwar Records, will have the new album from Foxygen on October 14. It is being called …And Star Power, issued on 2LP, 2CD, and DD.
Reprise Records have a debut solo effort coming from Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) on September 30. The album, Hesitant Alien, is planned for CD, LP (with DD rights included), and DD.
Blue Horizon Records have remastered original Fleetwood Mac LP sets The Pious Bird Of Good Omen (1969, compilation of first 4 UK singles, their accompanying B-sides (with “Black Magic Woman”, and “Albatross”), and two extra tracks (“Need Your Love So Bad”, “I Believe My Time Ain’t Long”), Mr Wonderful (1968), which introduced Christine Perfect, and the band’s 1968 debut album, Fleetwood Mac (also known as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac) ready for release on September 23.
The Violent Flame, the new album from Erasure, is slated for CD, 2CD Deluxe Edition, and DD, planned for September 23. Crash Collide Records have The Acoustic Sessions from Trapt, slated for September 23.
A reworked Sound+Vision 4CD box featuring David Bowie is slated for September 23. For those that remember the classic The Midnight Special music show, know that Time/Life will be issuing a 6DVD set featuring 16 and a half hours of programming from the Friday night gem that many of us depended on. This set is scheduled for September 9. Frontiers Records have Heart & Friends – Home For Christmas coming for the holidays. The Heart set is slated for November 11. J&R Adventures will release the new Joe Bonamassa album, Different Shades Of Blue, on September 23.
Oh yeah, the Holiday albums are coming fast and furious. I’ve sheltered you. Real Gone Music will release The Very Best Of Stories featuring the music from Stories, the band best known for their Kama Sutra label single, “Brother Louie”. (I was in junior high when this was popular…I’m so old!) It’s planned for a September 30 issue date.
