Dusty Hill, Frank Beard, and Billy Gibbons formed one of the world’s best appreciated rock band in ZZ Top. Over the years, this three-member Rock band created a batch of enduring songs from equally impressive albums. The first album, called, simply, ZZ Top’s First Album started the ball rolling back in 1971. With the release of the follow-up, Rio Grande Mud, they reached deeper into the fans’ psyche with their brand of Rock and Roll, southern blues style.
In 1973 (I remember it well), the band struck it well with the release of “La Grange” from their 3rd LP, Tres Hombres. From there, it was a steady climb to the top with Top10 singles like “Sharp Dressed Man”, “Tush”, “Gimme All Your Lovin'”, “Legs”, and others. It wouldn’t be until the band’s 1996 album, Rhythmeen, when things began to slow down for the band, whose previous albums have sold, at least, in platinum status (1,000,000 in sales).
Despite the slowdown in music sales, the band remained a draw in concert. But, everyone loves a well designed ‘best of’ package that highlights the extraordinary from their favorite bands. For ZZ Top, that is coming via Rhino Records and Warner Brothers, with the new CD release of The Very Baddest Of ZZ Top. The music within, will likely, be remastered, and contain all of the stuff that fans loved.
The set will arrive in a single CD with 20 tracks, and a 2CD set with 40 tracks. The 2CD set is a wealthy blend of classic ZZ Top tracks, with the single CD version a carefully cherry-picked collection.
The Very Baddest Of ZZ Top (both versions) is slated for July 22.
