First of all, I hope everybody is safe and doing well in the horrendous weather throughout the country this past week.
We had another passing recently. The Reggae artist who gave to us, among other things, the great song “Police And Thieves” has passed on. I speak of Junior Murvin. There are a great many of us who became familiar with Murvin through the version of the song which was released on the first album from The Clash.
I am extremely happy to report that Analog Africa announced on their Facebook page that their newest release is now out and available for ordering from Amazon U.K. It is called Angola Soundtrack 2: Hypnosis, Distortions & Other Sonic Innovations 1969-1978. (Analog Africa Facebook page)
It got announced at The Hoffman Forum and I hope it doesn’t get him into trouble, but Steve Hoffman let it be known that another Peter, Paul & Mary album is coming to SACD hybrid from Audio Fidelity in the near future. The album will be In The Wind. (Hoffman Forum)
Word is beginning to go around that Sony has a DVD planned this upcoming Spring for the Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary Concert which will contain extra unreleased performances. (Hoffman Forum)
In book news, Galadrielle Allman, the duaghter of the late great Duane Allman will be releasing her book, Please Be With Me: A Song For My Father, Duane Allman on March 11 from Spiegel & Grau. It is up for pre-order over at Amazon. Word also has it that a few people who’ve haven’t granted interviews with other authors and press people came out to speak about Duane for this book. (Hittin’ The Note)
And then there’s Beatle news. Word is getting out, by way of Wog Blog, that we can expect a DVD of video clips based on the “1” CD collection in October of 2014. But the biggest immediate news is that there’s going to be an iTunes exclusive for December 14 called Bootleg Recordings 1963 coming out. I sincerely hope this will eventually released on CD. This release amounts to 59 tracks and will contain studio outtakes and more unreleased BBC material. There has been no word yet on what plans there are for the long anticipated Let It Be DVD. (Hoffman Forum/IMWAN/Wog Blog)
You haven’t even mentioned the big Beatles news of the release of the Beatles Capitol Albums box set for Jan 21 containing 13 discs (5 of them never released before on cd).
