When you think the name Procol Harem, there’s, no doubt, a rush of goodness that goes through your mind. Emerging in 1967, during the formative years of Rock and Roll, back when the genre lines were still being drawn out, Procol Harum delivered their first album. Their first album, self-titled Procol Harum, contained the later hit, “Conquistador”. Prior to that, the band issued a defining single, “A Whiter Shade Of Pale”, which gave them the platform from which they thrived.
2017 is he 50th Anniversary of Procol Harum. Of course, the lineup changes have been great, but the band, led by co-founder, Gary Brooker, is still heavily involved. Assisted by band mates that have been together longer than the original incarnations, this lineup has produced excellent work that subscribes to the musical intent of Procol Harum.
On April 21, Procol Harum will release a brand new eleven-track studio effort. Called Novum, it will help to celebrate the 50th Anniversary by giving fans a solid work. Novum will be preceded by a representative single, “Sunday Morning” although not until April 7. Novum will be released by Eagle Records. It will be the band’s first in 14 years. Novum will be released on CD, in DD, and on vinyl LP.
