This isn’t breaking news but it is nice to know that the release of the 5CD Small Faces: The Decca Years Box, previously expected only for the UK, will now be on sale in the US. This box doesn’t represent much that hasn’t been uncovered before, although there are a few pleasant unreleased goodies in there. Plus, the music has been remastered – score right there!
The first CD represents a ‘best of’ for Small Faces, while the other CDs offer the band’s first two albums, a disc of rarities and outtakes, and a BBC Sessions collection. The Box will be augmented with a richly designed 72-page booklet, and completed with card stock photos. The CDs are being housed in LP-styled cardboard mini-sleeves, and stashed in a nice library-styled box (see photo).
Small Faces: The Decca Years 1965-1967 releases in the US and UK on October 9. In the US, the Box is being released via Polydor Records.
