There is little that needs to be written about Emerson, Lake & Palmer. They’ve enjoyed two distinct go-arounds that included their rise to fame career that gave us four stunning albums, and a forgettable, tired album (Love Beach – 1978) that do not include the two indulgent volumes of collections that were entitled Works. With a decline in interest, the band broke up. Their second turn gave us two more albums (Black Moon – 1992, In The Hot Seat – 1994), however, tensions and other issues brought ELP to an end. Nevertheless, ELP STILL commands a respect that is often satisfied by multiple reissue and remastering of their classic era albums, and a handful of other issues.
On September 11, Eagle Rock Entertainment will look back and release a live set featuring the ELP of the second period. The album, Live At Montreux 1997 will feature familiar ELP classics like “From The Beginning”, “Karn Evil 9”, “Lucky Man”, and a medley of songs from the catalog. In addition, this live set from their show on July 7, 1997, also features tracks that never had a place on any of the band’s studio albums (“Touch And Go”, “Creole Dance”, “Carmina Burana”)
ELP – Live At Montreux 1997 will be released for the first time. It is expected on 2CD sets as well as being made digitally available. The 2CD set will contain a booklet with newly-written individual notes by each member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
