Sparks enjoyed a period of worldwide popularity, albeit brief at just interest in three released studio sets (Kimono My House – 1974, Propaganda – 1974, Discreet – 1975). This is unfortunate given the reality that there are far more than just those in release, and many of them are unforgettable if listened to (my personal favorite is Big Beat – 1976, a BIG missed opportunity for anyone who appreciated great music). sparks introduced in 1971 with their Warner Bros debut, and is currently at, at last look, Mad! (2025). Nevertheless, sparks maintained a nice grip with a devout core audience over the decades, which is why they are still putting them out. The trend this decade are Anniversary albums (although, not enough of them). Sparks has revisited a few of their classics (and I DO wish Columbia/Sony would revisit Big Beat). Here’s another for ya!

On October 30, Curb Records/Warner Bros will reissue the band’s 14th set – Music That You Can Dance To. Originally issued in 1986 via MCA Records (US), this album catered to the dance crowd with a bit of a musical departure. Filled with synth for the dance crowd (like No. 1 In Heaven (1979)), this album pushed out four singles including “Changes”, and “Fingertips”. This new reissue celebrates the album’s 40th Anniversary with a new remaster and a track expansion. Along with the original album tracks, there will be demos, and expanded dance tracks.

This new edition of Music That You Can Dance To will be released on 2CD, DD, and  2LP Gold vinyl packages.
