Barclay James Harvest was an interesting band back during its time with Harvest Records and Polydor Records. With a strong progressive feel, the band delivered more than 10 sets that encapsulated an era. Today, those albums still hold up quite well, well enough to have strong remastered and collected sets reissued via Cherry Red UK and Esoteric Recordings.
On September 22, Esoteric continues their Barclay James Harvest upgrades with the band’s fourth album set, Baby James Harvest. Originally issued via Harvest Records in 1972, it was as breathtaking as their previous sets. Here, Esoteric gathers not only the original album with a brand new Stereo remix and Stereo remaster, but also provides a handful of A and B sides, a live set from November 16, 1972 that was broadcast on BBC Radio One presented in both Mono and Stereo versions, and a Blu-ray Audio disc with the original album in newly remixed Stereo, the original Stereo mix, and a collection of demos and bonus tracks, all in 96kHz/24-bit resolution. A 5.1 Surround mix and an Old Grey Whistle Test video of “Thank You” are included to further make this set a definitive keeper.
Baby James Harvest will be packed with a booklet filled with photos, new notes and essay, and credits.
